Interpretation and Translation of “Hamd” and “Towhid” Surah
Interpretation and Translation of “Hamd” Surah
In this book by translating Hamd surah I have tried to show that Quran is not a puzzle and God has not designed a puzzle instead of guiding people. But displaying Quran as a puzzle is because of ignorance of Quran interpreters and translators that is due to not having knowledge….
Noble Quran is not a puzzle since it contains commands and rules from God. Given the fact that religions are for guiding the people, the message of the religions should be explicit, not mysterious or hard to understand for general people. With this point of view, it is expected that a correct translation of the Noble Quran can express the clear message of Islam and it doesn’t need much interpretation. AuthorMohammad Babaee has tried to demonstrate this idea by publishing Interpretation and translation of Hamd and Tohid Surah which simply presents the clear meaning of the two most famous Suras of the Quran.
Al Hamd Sura «سورة الحمد» also named Al Fatiha Sura «سورة الفاتحة» is the first Sura of the Quran and it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad twice, once in Mecca and once in Medina. Its seven verses (ayat) is a part of prayer in Salaat that includes an eloquent dialog between Allah and his slave. One of the most graceful parts of Hamd Sura, the sixth verse «ایاک نعبد و ایاک نستعین», means ‘O, lord, I am only and only your slave and there is no dependency and affection for me but yours. And I am seeking help only from you’ which is an example of the novel, unique, and correct translation presented in this book.

What is the meaning of Islam? Does it mean submission? Islam is religion of health not submission. This book proves literally that Islam does not mean submission at all. Reasoning is based on knowledge, wisdom, and evidence. No scholar is able to reject it by any scientific reason or logic of Qur’an. This book reveals an absolute and undeniable fact that had been hidden amidst the lost reality of religions. Islam is the way of health.
In this book, the meaning of Islam has been investigated from an etymological point of view. The term ‘Islam’ (‘اسلام’) is rooted from ‘سلم’ which means “entering to health” and it has become transitive by taking it to “باب الافعال”. Therefore its literal meaning is “making healthy and giving health”.
The Islam religion means “the way of making healthy and giving health and avoiding harm”. This is the truth meaning of Islam. Name is the main representative of a school of thought, especially about Islam religion, which according to the Muslim’s beliefs, God himself has determined its name in the holy book of Qur’an[1]. The name of Islam reflects the structure, basic concept and content of the religion. Every rule and command of the Islam religion has to follow this structure, and results in health. Everyone who hears the truth meaning of Islam realizes what this way is. What he/she has to avoid and what should do.
This book discusses historically why this meaning has been concealed throughout the history; the most important reason is the warrior spirit of Muslims during the first decades after its prophet’s death. While based on Islamic faith, followers, leaders, and Islamic societies should not do anything that leads to harm or hurt in family, society, and nature.
It is demonstrated how fruitful this new meaning could be. In such Islamic society: 1) suicide, war, and despotism is denounced. 2) Protecting the environment is the most significant feature. 3) Gaining knowledge and cognition, freedom of thought and speech are most admirable behaviors.

If you say yes, surely you recite سوره الفاتحه /sūrah l-fātiḥah/ several times every day.
But Have you ever thought about the meaning of “رب العالمین” /Rabbil ālamin/?
In most of the translations, it is translated to “the lord of the worlds”.
But let’s look at the dictionaries and lexicons.
In Mufradat-Ul-Quran we see that “عالم” / ālam/ is “اسم الآلة” /ismul ālat/ which means a tool to gain knowledge, like خاتم /khātam/ and طابع /tāba/ where they are اسم الآلة /ismul ālat/ as well.
عالمین /ālamin/ is the plural of عالم /ālam/, is rooted from علم /ilm/.
When علم /ilm/ is used in the form of فاعل /fāal/, it takes the meaning of a tool and so means “tools of gaining knowledge”.
It’s like خاتم /khatam/ from the root ختم /khatama/which means “to end” and since it is used in the form of فاعَل, it means tool to end.
In the past, خاتم /khatam/ was referred to a ring to end the letters; or طابع /tāba/ from the root طبع /taba’a/ which means “to seal”, and طابع /tāba/ was referred to a tool to seal the letters.
Therefore, الحمد لله رب العالمین /alhamdu lellahe rabbel ālamin/ means Praise is for the God who is the developer of tools to gain knowledge.
What we can understand from this verse is that whatever human sees, hears, touches, tastes and smells, and generally whatever is called universe, from Quran’s perspective is only a tool to gain knowledge and to learn; a tool which is in possession of human.
If we; Muslims, considered everything as a tool for reaching knowledge and wisdom, could it still be possible to abuse the unawareness of the Muslims?
Wouldn’t the Muslims be the pioneers and leaders in science, wisdom and peace-finding by this perspective?
Do you think Quran’s distortion is only limited to this single word? There are lots of other words in the Quran which are miss-translated and their real meaning is distorted.
In fact, distortion is impossible in the Qur’an itself, these are the translations that have deviated this Devine miracle from its real nature.

Do you know the position of sadness and happiness in Islam?
Have you heard from religious leaders that Momin has to be sad?
Quran calls a true Muslim as Momin. And believes being Momin is the ultimate emancipation.
But who is Momin?
How can we distinguish Momin from non-Momin?
Momin is from the root of /amana/ which means to be calm and feel secure. Since it is used in the form of /Mof’el/ it gets a subjective meaning and refers to a person who has reached inner calmness, feels secure and always maintains this state.
Well, by correct translation of Momin, it is clear that from Quran’s point of view, Momin is a person who:
1-Is never sad or sorrowful
2-Has absolute inner calmness
3-Is never stressed or worried, neither about this world nor hereafter
4-Is always happy and calm, inside and outside
5-Has achieved his calmness through faith to God and wisdom, not any other way.
Therefore, everyone who feels sad or sorrowful, fearful or worried, or is not happy, he is not only Momin but also is the opposite of Momin.
How about those hadiths that encourage to sadness? Doesn’t they contradict with the true meaning of Quran?
Does scientific research agree with the true meaning of the word Islam, which is “entering to health”?
Let’s look at the scientific research on the influence of sadness on cognition. Sadness and depression adversely affect perception, attention, memory, and executive functions. This suggests that sadness degrades learning.
Therefore, those who encourage their followers toward sadness and grief, they reduce their memory, attention, perception, and learning ability; In fact, they make them sick, reduce their mental ability and keep them in ignorance.
Well, how happy and calm are the Islamic societies?
In the 19 happiest countries in the world, based on the Gross Domestic Product, healthy life expectancy, generosity and so forth, unfortunately you don’t see any Islamic country!
Therefore, Momin is a person who has reached inner calmness not sadness;
feels secure not fearful;
and always maintains this state.
In fact, distortion is impossible in Quran itself, these are the translations that have deviated this divine miracle from its real nature.

In most translations “Zunūb” is translated to sins;
However, Are all kinds of sins called Zanb?
Why does Quran use the word “Zanb” to describe a group of disorders rather than words like /ism/, /Kha ty ah/ or other words?
In the dictionaries we see that “Zunūb” is a Plural noun for /Zanb/. And /Zanb/ literally means tail, and originally means tacking animal’s tail.
So Zanb refers to the tail of something.
Quran describes all the defects which caused by a failure in the past and appear now in present, with the word Zanb.
Sometimes the effects of what we have done in the past remains for years and even for a lifetime. Quran calls these effects as /Zanb/.
In fact /Zanb/ is a consequence of an act which might not be accounted as sin, or even something wrong, but cause some chain of events that finally lead to damages or defects in us and leave destructive effects in our daily life.
As an example, lack of exercise, overeating and lack of proper nutrition and even being careless to a good position in life and also acts like smoking, which does not appear as guilt to anyone, can lead to defects in one’s life which are his /Zunūb/.
We should notice that not knowing these acts and hundreds of others as sin is because of the distortion in the meaning of Islam made by the deceitful religious abusers. As we know, the meaning of the word “Islam” is entering into health. In Islam’s perspective, everything which can endanger human health, whether physical or mental or social or any other aspect of healthiness is a sin.
Sometimes even a misplaced word or a wrong decision can lead to a /Zanb/ in a person.
/Zunūb/ are the reasons for many difficulties in our lives.
So anything which still has no harmful impact on us, can’t be named as /Zanb/.
Also, the action which does have negative effects at the moment, is not a Zanb, but is a “sin”, even if the negative effects last for a while.
In fact, when we pray and ask for forgiveness and cure for our /Zunūb/, we actually are asking God to repair the damage that has its origin in the past, even may not have been considered as sin or guilt at that time.
So, when we say /vaghfer lanā Zunūbanā/ means:
Cover and vanish the effects of what I have done in the past but their harmful effects has appeared now, in present.
Why the true meanings of the words in the Quran have always been concealed?
Who is in favor of this secrecy?

Meaning of The words /Nour/ & “light” in Quran “نور”
Nour
Are you familiar with the word ”Nour”?
if you are a Muslim , Surly you have heard these verses:
But, according to the minister’s teachings, how is /Nour/ translated in Quran and what is the common understanding of this word?
Normal People know the word /Nour/ as light.
Interpreters and translators of Qur’an also describe it and its opposite as decent and evil, good and bad or pain and pleasure.
Science describes it as photon or electromagnetic fields.
So based on these meanings, what does “Allah is the /Nour/ of the heavens and the earth” mean?
it is interesting to know that all these meanings are understandings of Qurans interpreters for the word /Nour/.
The word /Nour/ literally means the revealer
From Quran perspective, /Nour/ and also lighting are not photon or electromagnetic waves; rather the revealing itself is /Nour/. Photon and electromagnetic waves are already revealed entities in our world, so they are not /nour/ but their revealing in its own should be accounted as /nour/
When we use the word “reveal” surly we refer to an observer, because it doesn’t make sense to reveal something without anyone observing the whole event. Whom is it revealed for? Revealing just does make sense when there is an observer possessing life and consciousness.
Therefore when we say “Allah is the /nour/ of the heavens and the earth” it means that Allah is the revealer of heavens and the earth; not just for seeing, either seen or not. In fact, /Nour/ is the element which donates existence into creatures and reveals them from nothing.
So the rate of revealing for a creature determines the level of its consciousness and awareness.
When God says “take them out of the light into darkness” or when says “brings them out from darkness into the light”, actually refers to the fact that the being in whole is not equally revealed for all creatures. Creatures will find their awareness more vague and restricted as they enter into the darkness and will find it more complete and broad as they enter into the light.
And the verse “Allah is the /Nour/ of the heavens and the earth” will mean “Allah is the one, who revealed heavens and earth for creatures by creating life and awareness”
Knowledge is that part of the being which is revealed to a creature by /Nour/ or light.
So this prophet Mohammad’s quote that says: “Knowledge is not reached by massive Education, but is the light which God puts on the heart of whoever desires.
Education does not increase the awareness, corresponding to senses and cognition of creatures, but the Lord as the creator, is the one who determines the limits of awareness of creatures and make it restricted or expanded.
For example, we cannot educate a chicken up to the awareness level of a human baby. If the chicken awareness is changed and suddenly developed, it can be able to understand and perceive the kind of things that an ordinary chicken cannot do. In such cases, we can say that the chicken has entered from darkness to light or /Nour/.
So /Nour/ means the revealer.
And /Nour al Nour/ means the revealer of all revealers.
/Yaa nour al nour/.

Surely you are familiar with /Tawhid/ Surah. And the verse /lam yalid va lam youlad/ is familiar to you.
How does this verse translated in Quran you have ever seen?
Did not and was not born!!!!
So, what did you understand from that? Most of the understandings are the negation of having parents.
/yalid/ and /youlad/ both rooted from /valada/ which means to create and issue something from something.
This verse actually says: Nothing is created or issued from the essence of God and God itself is not issued from something.
Quran says that the Creator and the creatures are not separated from each other while they are not one. This means that the creatures are not detached from the divine essence.
So, in your opinion, where do the creatures come from?
Aren’t they created from God?
Aren’t they issued from God?
How much do you know about God and monotheism?
If we translate the /Tawhid/ Surah word by word, it is inferred from the above verse that: The creatures are not separated from God and God is not also separated from his creatures, but in a way that is inconceivable for us God and the creatures are not one. This means that the whole creation is the emanation of God not God itself.
Generally, this verse talks about creation not just parents.
Interpretation of this verse to parents or child is an unreasonable attitude.
Don’t you think it is more beautiful if it was written in translation that:
Being that does not issued something and He is not also issued from something.
In fact, distortion is impossible in Quran itself, these are the translations that have deviated this divine miracle from its real nature.
